A'pieu Pure Block Tone-Up Sun Base Review
Lmao, a year later… I’m back with a review. Even though I feel like with the way the world is, lockdown and all that; I still couldn’t find the effort to crawl and write even though I desperately want to. In a year, I did test out a lot of skincare products and some makeup here and there but I never could review them. Hopefully, I’ll get out of this slump of mine and go back to doing what I want.
ANYWAY--- Who doesn’t love a two in one product? While I was searching the market for an affordable sunscreen, I came across the Sunplay Tone Up sun essence. I was thinking of purchasing that but the price is still up there to me. I know some people would justify the purchase since it comes in a 80ml tube but it’s still isn’t for me.
Normally, I’d list the good of a product so let’s talk about that first. First of all, I love how affordable this sunscreen is. The problem I have with sunscreens are how expensive they are for the little amount they came in. I’m like… Brah. But you can find this sunscreen on online shops for as low as 23 MYR. I think most of A’pieu’s Pure Block line are very affordable.
They have other types too so highly recommend checking them out if you’re on the hunt for affordable sunscreens that suits your other skin needs.
Next, I love how this sunscreen doesn’t irritate or stings my skin after a while considering it’s a mix between Chemical and Physical UV filters. The problem I had with A’pieu’s Mild Pure Block sunscreen was how each time I’d sweat, my skin would have this weird stinging sensation. I think it’s the sunscreen coming off (as that sunscreen is uses purely physical filters and physical filters easily comes off) so if you’re a sweater (gross but humane thing, shuddup.) like me you will have better experiences with the Tone Up version.
Also, if you’re looking for a two in one sort of deal like I was, this could be your friend. It does provide a provide a tone-up effect BUT …. We’ll talk about that later.

See, that’s one of the problem with this sunscreen. I know, it’s a tone up sunscreen and you might be coming at me but the way it tones you up is just really unnatural. It’s easy to overdo with this sunscreen. Can’t use more than two chocolate chip size amount (I feel like I don’t get enough sun protection) or you’ll end up with a ghost face.
However, it does wears off after a while. Yeah, the ‘tone-up’ effect is just an hour or two. If you’re someone with dry skin, you won’t like this as it is a matte finish sunscreen and the skin does feels dry to the touch when applying this.
Might also have to add up that the texture of this sunscreen is not fluid-ike or even creamy. It’s hard to explain but I really hate blending this into my skin. It requires so much effort to glide it across my skin and having it fully absorbed into the skin. You really need to work it into your skin to make it seem seamless or else you’ll end up looking patchy. With the amount of effort you need to work with this—nope.
By the way, if you’re
sensitive to fragrances in your skincare, don’t grab this. The scent of this
sunscreen is honestly pleasant to me and doesn’t linger around; Sweet and
floral like (that doesn’t make you gag btw), but I still wouldn’t recommend it
if you’re allergic or sensitive to fragrance.
I wouldn’t repurchase this sunscreen
regardless of the price. I’m a little picky with my sunscreens but I just think
there’s better ones out there. Let me know if you could recommend me a better
one. I’m always on the hunt for great and affordable sunscreens.
Hopefully you’ll read from me again… in like-
a year.
Take care and stay safe.
