Safi Dermasafe Day Moisturiser Review

I feel like it’s been a while since I wrote about any skincare product so when I finished out my Safi’s Dermasafe Day Moisturiser, I was like “Yay! A skincare product to write about!”.

I’ve always been a firm believer that if you take good care of your skin, you don’t need much help from makeup. Your skin will naturally glow if you invest more in your skincare. By that, I don’t mean you have to spend a lot of money on skincare. What I mean is, try to research on what works more for your skin type and concerns. Trust me, I used to have a 10 steps skincare routine and that was a waste of time and money. I think focusing more on the foundation of skincare routine is important. A cleanser, moisturiser and sunscreen. That’s the foundation.

Speaking of moisturiser, I’m going to talk about a moisturiser I’ve been trying since November 2018. It’s my second purchase of this product and I think I’ve been using it long enough for me to give my opinions on this little baby.

To be honest, I was rather surprised that I’ve purchased this. Now, Safi has been around for awhile now. I remember their Cucumber cleanser was the first cleanser I bought when I was around… twelve, I think. Point is, the brand has been around in Malaysia for awhile now and I did try some things from Safi but the memory is really hazy because it’s been THAT long. But, I did remember trying not one BUT two of their moisturisers and both ended up burning my skin. Scary, right? That’s why when I first saw this at Watsons, I was intrigued but… hesitant at the same time. For starters, this whole Dermasafe line is the first line ever I saw from Safi that’s free from Fragrance and Alcohol, two of my major pet peeves in skincare. Forget about parabens! These two are the ones you really need to watch out for, OH MY GOD!

Anyway, back to the line. I feel like it deserves its own highlight. Unfortunately, I haven’t tried everything for me to be eligible to talk about the line as a whole but I can say I was impressed with Safi this time. Well, except for the gel cleanser. It contains SLS. Another pet peeve of mine in skincare, body care and hair care. I’m getting side tracked here.

Back to the day moisturiser. I need to praise Safi for the ingredients list. I’m really happy they included Niacinamide in this product because finally, they’re stepping up their ingredients list. I can also confirm that this is sensitive skin friendly because my skin do reacts to things easily but with this, it doesn’t seem to burn or irritate like crazy so my sensitive skin people, at ease. I also need to mention that being acne-prone skin, this doesn’t get rid of my acnes but, it calms it down by getting rid of the redness or helps to soothe it down a little so, it works for acne prone skin too! This is also a lightweight. It doesn’t leave any sticky or tacky residue behind and sinks into the skin in a couple of seconds. And because of the ingredients used, this is slightly expensive than most of Safi’s products. It’s not that crazy expensive but you can see the difference in terms of pricing compare to other Safi’s products. Good news is though, you can find it ALWAYS on sale at Watsons so yay!

I nitpick. A lot. So, don’t think this one escapes this habit of mine as well. As usual, with the good of the product, I reel my ugly head around to find its bad and this one has its downfall as well. If you’re dehydrated or dry this doesn’t provide you with sufficient moisture or hydration. Why? Because couple of hours after trying this out… I will get oily. Indoor, it’s not that bad but if I were to go out, I could fry chips on my face. I love dewy, not oily. Another thing is that, this product runs out quick if you’re like me and you use this day and night. I know it stated as a day moisturiser but it’s mine, I do what I want. It finishes in around 3 months so not very budget friendly. Surprisingly, those are the only bad I can find!

Well, we have arrived to the conclusion of this review. It’s not the worse moisturiser I’ve come across. Definitely Safi is stepping up but I don’t think I’d repurchase this again mainly because I’m looking for something that can properly quench my skin’s thirst. But if you're looking to try this out, don't let the bad deter you, take the good and check this out because you might like it? might work for you? Who knows.

That’s all from me, peace out.
