Essence Longlasting Eye Pencil in 02, Hot Chocolate Review
I never consider myself as a “makeup
guru” because let’s face it, I still suck doing makeup, especially eye makeup. I
really envy beauty gurus for being able to properly blend their eyeshadows and
able to choose the right foundation colour, lol. But despite my inexperience in
the makeup department, that never stopped me from trying the abudance of makeup
products at the drugstores. I’ve experimented with makeup since I was 19 and
you’d think I should be some sort of makeup veteren by now but nah, I don’t
really like to experiment that much. I prefer natural makeup over glam and most
of the products I’ve bought were like tools to help me enhance my “natural” beauty.
Now, back to my review, I’m going to
share with you my thoughts on the Essence Longlasting Eye Pencil in the shade 02,
Hot Chocolate. Honestly, I have a lot of hopes for this eye pencil because
before buying it, I read a lot of positive reviews and Essence generally as a
brand never dissapointed me especially for the price tag they have placed on
their products. I feel like I can never go wrong with the brand until I grabbed
this pencil.
One swatch of the eye pencil
After it sets, I rub it a bit and yeah, not smudge proof
I mean, compare to most eye pencil out
there, it’s not that bad... but if you have oily lids and live in a humid
country like me, this will not cut it. When I first swatched it, it was creamy
and doesn’t tug on my eyelids which is a pleasant experience and the colour pay
off was on point. It comes in a twisty pencil which means you don't have to sharpen it and it is the perfect dark chocolate I’m looking for. You know how
there’s those dark brown eye pencil out there that just end up really reddish
brown and ruins the natural look you’re hoping to achieve? The colour for this
was spot on and glides on smoothly but I was dissapointed at the end of my day to
find it smudging on me. I use this to make a baby wing at the corner of my eyes
and tightline my upper waterline but it smudged badly on me when I don’t even
rub my eyes. It never claimed to be waterproof but I read a lot of reviews that
clamed that it is which made me excited to get my hands on it. Maybe it’s me or
my application but Essence dissapointed me with this so am definately won’t be
repurchasing this and have to part ways with it.
